THE POWER OF PLAY

At St Patrick's we believe that play is a key part of the learning that happens within Reception class. Our children are encouraged to play and explore the environment both indoors and outdoors throughout the day. Within each area of provision we have provided resources that support the development of skills,  creative and critical thinking and imagination!! Our children thrive within the environment and learn to play co-operatively with others.

As well as developing  social skills, forming friendships and building self confidence, children are developing their communication and language skills through listening to each other, sharing thoughts, ideas and working together.  The adults working within provision know each child and each of  their individual areas of development. By playing alongside the children, these are incorporated within what the child is currently interested in or doing, and learning through play happens.
